Service Discovery

Service Discovery scans the network to identify active services on devices.  It leverages information derived from TCP/IP stacks to identify current and emerging Internet services and proprietary IP applications active on hosts and end-point devices on the enterprise network. Brookcourt technologies:

  • Can be utilised to identify groups of servers that could be targets for server consolidation initiatives that can result in significant cost savings
  • Can identify end-point devices that run network-based services such as printers, network based facsimile or storage appliances, requiring no authorised access to a host or other end-point devices
  • Can identify application servers such as FTP, Web, Proxy, as well as servers listening for connections such as Telnet and ssh

By gracefully opening and closing the connections, Service Discovery ensures a lightweight network touch.
