Brookcourt has become one of the first organisations in the UK to achieve certification against ISO 42001, the pioneering international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS).
ISO 42001, developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) in partnership with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), was released in early 2024. It provides a comprehensive framework for organisations to manage Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems responsibly, ethically, and effectively. Certification to the standard demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to transparent and accountable AI governance.
Brookcourt currently employs AI technologies to enhance the efficiency and performance of its Sales and Marketing operations. Achieving ISO 42001 certification reflects the organisation’s dedication to best practice in AI governance and further supports its position as a leader in secure, transparent, and ethical AI deployment.
The certification programme was led by Xcina Consulting, Shearwater’s governance, risk and compliance advisory arm. Xcina’s team of certified experts support clients in navigating complex regulatory landscapes and achieving compliance with leading governance and cyber maturity frameworks, including ISO 42001.
This achievement demonstrates Shearwater Group’s ongoing commitment to pioneering cybersecurity standards and responsible AI use, reinforcing its position at the forefront of digital risk protection.
Phil Higgins, CEO of Shearwater Group plc, commented:
“We are incredibly proud that Brookcourt is one of the first organisations in the UK to achieve ISO 42001 certification. This milestone not only reinforces our commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices but also reflects the deep expertise within our group in setting industry standards for cybersecurity and digital governance. As AI continues to transform business, we are dedicated to ensuring it is deployed in a secure, transparent, and human-centric manner.
This achievement underscores Shearwater Group’s ongoing leadership in cybersecurity and responsible AI adoption. It also positions Xcina Consulting as a trusted partner for organisations aiming to adopt cutting-edge governance frameworks as they seek to navigate new regulatory and technological landscape.
